On the 7th March 2012 NDF had a successful platelet drive, but this time not with a college but with the Rapid Action Force. They are the first ones to arrive at a site incase of emergencies and crisis such as the 26/11. The chief medical doctor Dr. Anu Verma of the particular base became keen on having a platelet donation drive once a few men of the troops were diagnosed with cancer. That's when they realized the sheer need of platelets for cancer patients.
The drive was held in the beautiful open spaces of Kharghar where their base is located.
As usual they were given a detailed explanation on the procedure of platelet donation from the Blood Bank Team of TMH.
Samples were collected willing donors to TMH as well as Actrec Hospital. The javans from the troops came forward very willing to provide samples to be able to donate platelets. The Chief Commandant Raf. Mr. Jambholkar was also keen on having blood donation done at the hospital which was also fulfilled and two groups of javan's came in batches of twenty and donated blood during the week.
We are very greatful to Dr. ANu Verma to support "Save a Life" and organizing a successful platelet camp.
